Fast electric cars: These are the fastest electric cars

n terms of acceleration, an electric car is usually far superior to a combustion engine. A powerful electric motor is often ahead in a head-to-head race, because the power is immediately available. But many electric cars are limited from a certain speed to save range. We tell you which electric cars you can use to reach high speeds.

Here we have compiled all the fast electric cars at carwow that have a top speed of more than 200 km/h for you. If you want to know which cars are even faster, then take a look at our fastest road-legal e-cars. But beware: the faster, the more power consumption you have to accept on average. If you are interested in the absolute speed records, then the fastest cars in the world still rely on combustion engines.

The fastest e-cars

If you want to be fast on the road with your electric car, you now have a good selection. Of course, it can still happen that you end up in traffic jams with your e-car. So much power – you certainly couldn't have predicted that in the history of the electric car.

By the way: If you want to fill up with cheap electricity at home, then take a look at the tariffs of our car electricity partners.

Tesla Model S Plaid

1. Tesla Model S Plaid – Vmax 322 km/h

Three engines, all-wheel drive and 1,100 hp. This is the Plaid version of the Tesla Model S. The sports car is said to be able to reach a top speed of 322 km/h, with an estimated range of over 800 kilometers. The factory specification for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 2.1 seconds.

If you want to make the highways unsafe with the Model S Plaid, you have to put aside at least 140,000 euros.

Tesla Model X Plaid

2. Tesla Model X Plaid – Vmax 262 km/h

And another Tesla. The Model X in the Plaid version is incredibly fast - after all, it is an SUV. It takes only 2.6 seconds for the Model X to reach 100 km/h. Accordingly, the Model X is currently the fastest SUV on the market, with a top speed of 262 km/h. This is made possible by the new Tri Motor all-wheel drive platform with three independent drive units that deliver a total of 1,020 hp.

The range is estimated at 547 kilometers and even trailers can be towed, as the Model X has a permitted towing capacity of 2.2 tons. From 117,000 euros, the high-horsepower SUV is yours.

Porsche Taycan Turbo S

3. Porsche Taycan Turbo S – Vmax 260 km/h

A more or less affordable electric super sports car is the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. It is fast and cracks 100 km/h from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds. For a mass-produced model from a major manufacturer like Porsche, this is a really great time. The Turbo S version of the Taycan is powered by two electric motors that produce a total of up to 761 hp (including overboost), with a maximum torque of 1,050 Newton metres. The top speed is specified by Porsche as 260 km/h.

Of course, the Porsche could also drive faster, but then the range would disappear into thin air pretty quickly – and with a Porsche you want to do a few laps in everyday life. Combined, the range is around 400 kilometres, with a battery capacity of 83.7 kWh.

Kia_EV6_GT

4. Kia EV6 GT – Vmax 260 km/h

We had to wait a long time, but now the top version of the EV6 can finally be ordered. Especially when it comes to speed, the EV6 GT should definitely be shortlisted. A whopping 565 hp of power and 260 km/h are definitely an announcement. And the crossover is also practical.

5. Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo Turbo S – Vmax 260 km/h

Not only fast and fast, but also with plenty of space, the Porsche Taycan comes in the Sport Turismo version. The station wagon rear is spacious enough to spend a longer weekend with luggage. And when it's free on the motorway, the Taycan runs at 260 km/h. You'll be at your destination in no time.

Audi RS e-tron GT

6. Audi RS e-tron GT – Vmax 250 km/h

Audi's electric coupé, the RS e-tron GT, definitely has racing genes in it. And it can also drive fast, 250 km/h top speed is not a bad value - and that too with an environmentally friendly e-car.

BMW iX M60

7. BMW iX M60 – Vmax 250 km/h

SUVs aren't the fastest? This is an old prejudice, and is no longer valid for electric SUVs. With 619 hp, the beefy BMW iX M60 not only has a lot of power, but also achieves a top speed of 250 km/h. This means that it is in no way inferior to combustion models.

Taycan_Cross_Turismo

8. Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S – Vmax 250 km/h

Porsche is represented three times with its Taycan models in the top 10 of the fastest electric cars. The Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S is a Taycan that also cuts a fine figure off-road. If you want to drive your electric sports car on somewhat bumpier roads, you can do so. It is not really suitable for off-roading, but the Cross Turismo does well as a motorhome. And if the sports car is to be tested, 250 km/h is no problem.

BMW i7

9. BMW i7 – Vmax 240 km/h

Even though the BMW i7 as a luxury sedan stands for comfort rather than speed, this does not have to be mutually exclusive. The space is enormous, the driving comfort is top notch – and if it wants to, the i7 can put its full power on the road well. This is then displayed on the speedometer with a maximum speed of 240 km/h.

Tesla Model 3 Lead

10. Tesla Model 3 – Vmax 225 km/h

The end of our top 10 is another Tesla, this time the Model 3. If you want to venture into the Tesla world, you can't go wrong with the Model 3. It is affordable, offers enough range and is still a good compromise for speed fans. You reach a top speed of 225 km/h – you certainly don't have to hide from that.

Here are the top 5 fastest electric cars that are officially allowed to drive on the road – whether you can afford one of the models is another question. But it's not about the most expensive electric cars, but about the fastest ones that aren't racing cars yet:

Rimac Nevera

Rimac Nevera

Lotus-Evija

Lotus Evija

Lotus is known for its lightweight sports cars, so it gets difficult with electric cars, because the battery alone weighs almost as much as a Lotus with a combustion engine. But the decision has been made to enter the electric super sports car market with the Evija. And for an electric car, the Lotus has actually become very light with a weight of 1,680 kilograms. This also means that it can drive fast, namely a whopping 320 km/h.

Like almost all cars from the Supersport segment, a price in the millions is set here. To be more precise, the Evija costs over 2 million euros.

Maserati-GranTourismo-E

Maserati GranTurismo Folgore

Maserati's first electric sports car is not yet on the market, but it will be in spring 2023. The GranTurismo Folgore is to come with 1,200 hp, the top speed will then be over 300 km/h. The price for the Maserati is not yet known, but you will certainly have to pay several hundred thousand euros for it.

Aspark Owl

Aspark Owl

The Japanese manufacturer Aspark is very unknown in our country. But the performance data certainly takes your breath away. Over 2,000 hp of power, 1.69 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, 400 km/h top speed. From then on, the Owl is sealed off, although supposedly there would be more in it – madness.

But the fun is not cheap, you should have 3 million euros on the side if you are thinking about buying an Aspark.
